Ambility & Amtrykes

AmBility

David Usery and Toddler Amtryke RecipientA combination of the words AMBUCS and mobility, AmBility signifies an expansion of AMBUCS charitable efforts. Now in addition to the AMBUCS Scholars Program, chapters are able to direct Living Endowment dollars to AmBility as well. AmBility includes:  AmTrykes®

What is the AmTryke® Therapeutic Tricycle?
There is an AmTryke test location at the Edmond Medical Center, to find out more information contact Teresa Fritz or email the website.

We sponsor AmTrykes a therapeutic tricycle which was designed to strengthen and improve the motor skills of developmentally challenged children. The heavyweight trike can be propelled by either hand or foot motion. Straps secure the feet to the pedals , while torso and lap safety belts maintain the rider in the seat. A wide wheel base and narrow turning radius provide stability.

Do you know a child with disabilities who you think could benefit from an AmTryke® Therapeutic Tricycle?
For years, the AmTryke has benefited and delighted children with disabilities.  It give children the opportunity to experience the fun and independence of riding a bicycle with their siblings and friends.

This unique tricycle is hand and/or foot powered.  It improves motor coordination, increases self-esteem and is fun to ride!Isbell, Teresa & Amtryke Recipient

Physical and occupational therapists acknowledge the AmTryke tricycle's therapeutic benefits to patients, citing improved motor skills and strength development.  In fact, the AmTryke was inspired by a therapist.

There are many types of AmTrykes available in all sizes.

Be sure to check out the AmTryke product catalogue , showing all the models of the AmTryke® therapeutic tricycle.  There is a tryke available for children of all ages!  Don¹t miss the list of accessories available to make the AmTryke accessible to children with a variety of disabilities.

Universally Accessible Playgrounds

Building and refurbishing playgrounds that can be used by children regardless of disabilities is becoming an increasingly popular project among AMBUCS chapters. Whether it is adding universal usage playground equipment or building all-new playgrounds, members are acknowledging how important these playgrounds are.
